In my opinion it is not smart to use a fake smoke detector hidden camera in case of an emergency of a real fire and having both devices (hidden cam gadget and real smoke detector) is at least suspicious.
Additionally, a hidden camera smoke detector is probably one of the most popular spy gadget to hide a hidden camera in, as it can blend in with the surroundings and go unnoticed by others. However, it’s popularity can be problematic, since many people that will want to find a hidden camera, will look for it exactly there.
This is why a smoke detector camera might not be the best option anymore.
It is important to realize that there are many other and potentially better types of spy gadgets that can be used to hide a hidden camera, depending on the specific situation and the user’s needs.
